A baby was born Monday on board a rescue ship in the Mediterranean Sea, a day after his Nigerian parents were rescued from a rubber dinghy.
The baby is called Newman Otas and is a healthy baby boy.
His mother, father and two brothers were rescued off the coast of Libya.
The Aquarius is a joint operation by rescue group SOS Mediterranee and the medical aid group Medicins Sans Frontieres, operating in the Mediterranean Sea in the so-called “search and rescue” zone where most of the migrant boats are rescued.
