An Idaho man was shocked when he opened up his mailbox to find a package addressed to him from the year 1990.

Marvin Wilson did the math and realized his package had been lost in the mail for over 26 years.

“I was going through the mail and noticed I got a little package. The package has a date of April 23, 1990… 26 years, two months and 19 days later it gets here,” said Wilson.

When he got his hands on the pieces of mail, he noticed it came from his mother who died eight years ago.

At first, he thought it was a family member playing a joke on him.

“As soon as I got the package and realized who it was from and what it was… I emailed my sister, I called my sister and I Facebooked my sister and says, ‘What are you doing? What’s going on here?'” said Wilson

In the old envelope was a stack of pictures of his wife, sister and brother-in-law, from a trip they had taken to Las Vegas to compete in a dog shot.

What makes this story even better, is that Marvin was a mail carrier in Boise for forty years.

He said that back in the 90’s, sorting had to be done by hand, and he can easily see how his package could have been misplaced.
