KALAMAZOO, MI (WHDH) — Man’s best friend made a surprise appearance at a man’s big night—making for one of the sweetest bachelor party stories.

When a groom-to-be headed down to the woods of Tennessee for his bachelor party, he had no idea a dog would steal his heart.

The first morning that we were there, it was a bunch of guys, so we had the front door wide open and we’re cooking bacon. We look over, and the front door to the cabin we’re staying in there is a dog sitting there, just sweet as can be but would not come inside,” said Mitchel Craddock, the groom.

The guys had no idea where the dog came from, however, they liked it. The group decided to name the dog Annie.

“We figured she is such a sweet dog she’s got to have a home so she will eventually go somewhere,” said Craddock.

Annie had no collar or leash—it was clear the dog desperately needed help.

“She was very dehydrated, hungry. Everything we gave her and put in front of her, she gobbled up as fast as she could,” said Craddock.

Shortly after noticing the dog needed help—the unthinkable happened.

“There’s one spot over in the woods. If anything went by there, she’d take off. She’d leave us and take off, barking and going crazy. And she’d go to that spot, and then she’d eventually come back. So we connected the dots, we put everything together and we went over there and we found a giant hole in the ground. It was a den that had three holes in it. So one of my friends went in head first, and started … we found these puppies … we started pulling them out,” said Craddock.

One after another, seven puppies came out. All of the seven puppies needed to see the vet.

“Well we’re washing our puppies because they had all come out of a hole and they were dirty. So there was a group of rough and tumble men going down to go four wheeling and they’re inside washing a bunch of puppies,” said Craddock.

The groom said all of puppies are healthy and have forever homes.
