DALLAS (WHDH) - Radio calls from the Dallas ambush shooting were released Friday and they show the chaos police officers were met with.
The gunfire came from a rooftop and echoed through the streets of downtown Dallas, not far from Dealey Plaza, where President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in 1963. Officers ran in the direction of the gunfire after the first report of shots fired but were unable to find the gunman.
Officers eventually located suspect Micah Johnson, who threatened police with more violence. He claimed bombs were in the area but a sweep found no threat.
After a standoff with police for several hours, Johnson was killed by a bomb deployed by a robot.
