UXBRIDGE, MASS. (WHDH) - A young boy in Uxbridge recently showed respect for a fallen police officer by visiting the Uxbridge Police Department armed with a special gift.
Uxbridge police posted on their Facebook page Friday they received a visit from a family last Wednesday.
“The murder of Auburn Police Officer Ron Tarentino affected us deeply and continues today,” police posted on Facebook.
Tarentino, 42, was shot and killed during a traffic stop in Auburn in May. Police said Jorge Zambrano drove off after shooting Tarentino and hid in an apartment in Oxford. Hours later, police said they went inside the apartment after Zambrano refused to surrender to SWAT teams during a standoff. Zambrano was found hiding in a closet and police said he unleashed a pit bull on them before opening fire. Zambrano was killed during the shootout that followed.
The boy, Zane, asked his mother if he could bring flowers to the station.
Zane and his brother Reed arrived at the police department with a big bouquet of flowers, brightening the officer’s days.
“On behalf of the agency let me tell you Zane turned our frowns upside down and warmed our hearts during a very difficult moment. Thank you Stormont Family!”
