BROCKTON, MASS. (WHDH) - One person was taken to the hospital after being shot in the leg on Willow Street in Brockton just before 6:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Brockton police said they received a call from a location where the victim had gone to seek help.
“Officers applied a tourniquet to the man’s leg before Emergency Medical Services arrived,” police said. “Brewster Ambulance then transported him to a Boston hospital with what appears to be a non-life-threatening injury.”
Police said one person was in a vehicle when they were shot in the leg. It’s unclear if they were driving or a passenger.
Neighbors say they woke up just after 6 a.m. to the sound of gunshots.
“Four loud shots, like four or five,” one neighbor said. “I’m like, those are definitely gun shots, it was very odd. This never happens. Hopefully they’ll be fine.”
“I thought it was mechanical work because our neighbor’s a mechanic. So, I just assumed they were working on something,” said another neighbor.
Investigators said they spoke with a person of interest, but that person is not yet facing any charges.
Police said they are still searching for a weapon.
The investigation remains ongoing.
