BOSTON — Bostonians have long known their subway stops by iconic names such as Copley, Park Street, Government Center and Haymarket.

But those names could sound somewhat different under a plan being offered by the cash-strapped MBTA to sell naming rights to subway stations to corporate or commercial sponsors.
