The New England Patriots and DT Vince Wilfork have restructured his contract so that the player will have three more years on the team.

The deal will be for three years and will payout around $22.5 million

NBC Sports reports he was supposed to make $7.5 million this year, the last year of his contract. But the Patriots were likely hoping for less than that, since he’s 31 and coming off a torn Achilles. While the average suggests the same annual rate per year, it will certainly comes with a significant reduction in cap hit.

Vince tweeted the following message Thursday evening soon after the announcement was made.
