BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) — Police say a Vermont Spanish teacher suspended after being charged with sexually exploiting one of her Burlington High School students is in jail after being charged with contacting the alleged victim in violation of the conditions of her release.
On Friday, the Chittenden Unit for Special Investigations received a report that 44-year-old Giovanna Yaranga had contact with the victim in the case for which she was charged with sexual exploitation of a minor. An investigation found evidence supporting the allegation.
Police say Yaranga was taken into custody Monday. She's being held at the South Burlington jail pending a Tuesday court appearance.
Yaranga was first arrested after police found her in a car with a student last month.
Yaranga's lawyer James Murdoch did not return a call Monday seeking comment.
