Air was so thick out there today you could wear it. Well, almost. At the very least, you were at least soaking in it.

Dewpoints – what we use to measure the humidity – were running in the low and mid 70s! If we take the simple fact that higher numbers equate to higher humidity, this ranks up there with some of the most humid days of summer. Typical summer days may see dewpoints in the upper 50s to low 60s. Dry days in summer may see dewpoints in the 40s and 50s. But 70+?? That's South Florida kind of weather.

One more day of ugly hair, sweaty brows and blasting A/Cs, then we get some relief. Thunder is also part of the picture tomorrow. Not promising hits for everyone, but I think we have a good chance of getting downpours, gusty winds and maybe some small hail in any one of these. Timeframe is shown in the graphics on the right. Generally speaking, these storms will hit early in the day around Boston and Worcester and later in the day across Southeast Mass.

Much cooler air – and dare I say marginal beach weather – will arrive on Thursday. Friday starts the mend that carries through the weekend. Although humidity will return, it doesn't look as oppressive as this current spell.
