Turnaround this afternoon. Complete sun and a warmer airmass sent us right back into the 80s! And we’re just going to keep it on cruise control for the coming days. Clearly, we’re taking the "brr" out of September with this extended warm spell.
Heat will have limits (like everything, right?), however. Meteorologists typically use the middle atmosphere as a gauge for temperatures at the surface. We’re seeing that temperatures will settle at a certain value tomorrow and stay there for the remainder of the week. That means temperatures at ground level will likely do the same. The long of the short of it is that 90 seems like a "bridge too far" for highs this week, while the middle 80s seem just right. Humidity will stay in check too. Dry air has penetrated deep into the Mid Atlantic states, and even when the winds turn southwest on Friday and Saturday, it won’t be enough to pump back the super-humid air into New England.
I know, you’re all busted up about that, right?
Next threat (not promise) for showers is Sunday as a front goes through. I’m seeing more clouds than showers on that particular day, with a few intervals of sun too. The dry pattern rolls on….and on.
