The Walk For Hunger is a little more than a month away.

Wednesday morning, 7News’ Christa Delcamp had the opportunity to get things started at the kick-off breakfast.

This is the walk’s 48th year.

In addition to the scenic 10-mile course along the Charles River, this year there will also be a 5K that starts on the Boston Common.

Joining Christa Wednesday morning were some walkers who took part in the first Walk For Hunger in 1969.

This year’s walk will be held on May 1.

More than 40,000 people are expected to come together to make a powerful statement about hunger in Massachusetts.

The money raised from the walk will be used to develop and fund hundreds of programs that provide hunger relief to families and individuals across the state.
