WALTHAM, Mass. (WHDH) — A teacher at John F. Kennedy Middle School in Waltham claims to have found a student's “kill list,” with the names of other students on it.

Waltham Police are working with school officials to get a better understanding of exactly what happened and why.

“It’s unnerving as a parent. I have an 8th and 6th grader and my 6th grade daughter was nervous about coming to school on Monday,” one parent said.

A teacher at the Kennedy Middle School found the letter on a student’s desk. In the letter were the names of three other students under the title "students who make fun of me."

When asked about the note the student reportedly said "this is my kill list."

"We have a policy of responding, interviewing the people and investigating it. From what I understand it was investigated by the school department and the police,” Waltham Mayor Jeanette McCarthy said.

The Waltham detectives say the school never went into lockdown and no weapons were involved. The student has been interviewed by officials.

The kids whose names were on that list along with their parents have been briefed by police and the school superintendent. There was no word on what or if any, disciplinary action that student could face. Sources say he is14-year-old in the eighth grade.

“Doesn't matter if it was a joke. I'm glad the school took it 100 percent serious,” another parent said.

Police were notified but don't expect to charge the student. They said the school is handling it and it's a school issue.
