BOSTON (WHDH) - New video obtained by 7NEWS shows the piece of loose metal that MBTA officials say caused an Orange Line train car to catch fire in July.

The piece of metal can be seen hanging off the front of the train before video captures a flash of light and a mass of smoke.

According to MBTA officials, the metal come in contact with the third rail.

Around 200 individuals were on board the train when it caught fire over the mystic river.

The incident forced passengers to kick out windows in their attempts to flee the enflamed train car.

The incident is just one of many that are currently under investigation by the Federal Transit Administration.
