QUINCY, Mass. (WHDH) — A water main break created a sinkhole on Rawson Road in Quincy early Tuesday morning.

A few residents who lived on the street moved their cars in time but one van did not. The Department of Public Works arrived on scene and had a compressor going, to try to open some of the caps to see how they can get a handle on the water main break.

The street completely flooded. Fortunately it doesn't appear anybody was asked to evacuate their home.

Quincy police blocked off Rawson Road. It's unclear how long it will take to fix the break.

Authorities think last week's extreme cold, coupled with the warmer temperatures this week, may have caused the break.
