BURLINGTON, MASS. (WHDH) - A water main break caused the Burlington Mall remain closed on Sunday.

Customers were turned away from the mall.

“I walked up to the door and found it closed,” said one shopper.

A water main break in the mall’s parking lot forced management to delay opening throughout the day.

The mall was originally set to have a delayed opening at noon.

Massachusetts Department of Transportation closed an exit off Route 128 as traffic jammed up heading toward the mall.

With the holiday season quickly approaching, many shoppers were left disappointed.

Mall merchants were also frustrated about losing out on the holiday rush.

Businesses are expected to reopen at 9 a.m. on Monday.
