Gusty winds overnight, 40 to 50mph, 0.50"-1.00" of rain and near record warmth.  Nothing says mid winter like stats like that right?  While we haven’t much winter weather so far, it’s still February and weather can change with the flip of a switch around here.  Despite starting off in the 50s this morning, there’s a winter storm watch posted for most of Southeast Mass for tomorrow!

Temps start in the 50s this morning, but won’t change much during the day as cooler air eventually starts to work back in by this evening. A few showers run through this morning too, before we dry out with a few peeks of sun this afternoon.  Dry weather will continue into the early evening before showers work back in after 9pm.  As showers continue to move in tonight, temps slowly drop, eventually falling back into the low to mid 30s by daybreak.  With colder air aloft, a cold rain flips to wet snow, and wet snow starts to accumulate just in time for the morning commute. Expect a sloppy commute tomorrow morning with wet snow falling for many.  The transition to snow may take until 7-9am over the Cape.

While it’s not a massive storm for us, a good 6 hr burst of wet snow will add up to 3-6" south of Boston, across much of Southeast Mass, with 1-3" from Boston, north and west. Certainly enough to make a mess.  It’s the clingy kind that paste to tree branches and power lines. Not much wind is expected though, about 7-15 mph out of the northwest. Afternoon temps run in the mid to upper 30s, so roads should go back to mostly wet by the afternoon/evening commute as snow tapers off around/shortly after noon. Even some breaks of sun mid to late afternoon!

The weekend looks great, low 40s and more sun than clouds.

Next week looks colder for you winter lovers, and perhaps we’ll catch some more snow by Monday afternoon into Tuesday.
