WEST BRIDGEWATER, MASS. (WHDH) - A popular bar in West Bridgewater shut down for good, leaving locals devastated by the news.

The Charlie Horse expanded from a sports-themed bar to a bar and restaurant, complete with an arcade. It celebrated its 25th anniversary earlier this year.

“The people going out drinking today are looking for a little bit of a trendier place and even though we love it here, we’ve been here 25 years and I don’t think it quite fits the trendy definition,” said co-owner Mary Barrett.

Employees were told they can keep their jobs and work at the Barrett family’s other restaurants and banquet facilities in the area. The restaurant was also open Tuesday for people to cash in game tickets for prizes at the arcade.

Barrett said they may reopen the Charlie Horse if they can find a smaller space.
