When looking for warm air in early spring…..a simple note…West Is Best..especially along & west of I-495. Out in these locations, your are too far away from that chilly ocean water. In early spring, that ocean temp is usually in the low to mid 40s (41 tonight) and if you don’t have a healthy westerly wind to fend off the chilly ocean air…a sea breeze happens. That happened today. Many cities & towns along & west of I-495 reached the mid & upper 50s while metro Boston never made it out of the 40s today.

Tomorrow there will be no sea breeze in metro Boston. A west-southwest wind between 12-18 mph will be enough to keep the chilly ocean air at bay (pun intended) and that means most of us see the temps head for the 60s & low 70s by early afternoon. Near record warmth for Boston (record is 72, temp should reach 71) is likely. Throw in some sunshine and you have a day full of #Winning. The only areas to miss out again will be the South Coast,Cape/Islands as that southwest wind comes out of Buzzards Bay & cools those locations quite well…..temps only in the 40s & 50s,. Yikes. Fear not, your time is coming Cape Cod….summer.

On Thursday, We all get snubbed by a backdoor front—a front dropping in from the Gulf of Maine (versus New York State–hence backdoor/frontdoor reference)–that will send morning temps in the 60s into the 40s by late day. Adding insult to injury will be clouds and rain by afternoon. Still better than snow tho…AmIRight?

By Friday, that band of clouds & rain scoot out of town early in the day and sunshine gets back to work sending those temps back into the 50s by afternoon. As of now, the weekend looks good too….sunshine with some Sunday clouds & a continuation of the mild pattern we have been in for the past 4 months!

Enjoy your tacos.
