A Westford man appeared in court on Thursday in a case of road rage.

Hans Peter Schlueter, 47, is charged with assault with a dangerous weapon.

According to police, Schlueter pointed a gun at a passenger in another car because he thought they were driving too slow.

The driver of the other car was only 16 years old and was learning how to drive.

The incident began on Littleton Road.

Two brothers were out for a drive in Westford with a 25-year-old plumber helping out his kid brother. They noticed a line of cars behind them on the road.

A box truck and a locksmith’s van pulled over by the small strip mall and the older brother got out to have a word with the other drivers.

One driver took off but the locksmith and the older brother argued.

Schlueter allegedly pointed a loaded handgun at the older brother’s head.

According to a police report, Schlueter’s gun was loaded. His attorney said it was unloaded.

Schlueter claimed he is probably losing his job as a locksmith and has almost nothing in his bank account.

The judge set his bail at $1,500 following the incident.
