WEYMOUTH, MASS. (WHDH) - Luis Mallet, 29, plead not guilty in Quincy District Court to robbing a Santander bank in Weymouth early Monday night and then hiring an Uber as his getaway car.
According to police, Luis Mallett robbed the Santander bank on Pleasant Street in Monday night.
He left his cellphone and a handwritten note to the teller indicating that he had a bomb and wanted all the money.
Police said he did not have any explosive devices.
Prosecutors say before the Weymouth man tried to flee, he returned to a nearby 99 Restaurant to pay a $20 tab he rung up less than an hour earlier, when he grabbed a beer and some food at the bar.
He then ran to a nearby home looking for a ride to Brockton.
The homeowner refused but set up up for him to get a ride through an Uber driver. Mallet was arrested minutes later with hundreds of dollars in stolen cash in his front pocket.
Police said not only did Mallet match the description from bank surveillance video, he later told police he did it.
He is accused of stealing 700 dollars from the bank.
Mallet is being held without bail and returns to court next month.
