WEYMOUTH, MASS. (WHDH) - An officer shot and injured a woman while responding to a 911 call in Weymouth on Sunday.
Weymouth Police said they responded to a 911 call from “a frantic mother” who stated that her daughter was trying to kill herself with a knife.
Police said the officer was confronted at the door by a “hysterical” 46-year-old who was armed with a large knife.
According to police, the officer was forced to back away towards the street.
They said the suspect followed him with the knife while ignoring his orders to drop the knife.
The officer fired once, striking the suspect in the stomach.
The shooting is now under investigation.
