Someone sent me a tweet today that said, "Chilly temperatures so quickly! I wish the seasons would give us some transition weather!"  Isn’t that the truth?!  It was once again feeling much more like November weather than the weather you’d expect for the beginning of October (normal high for Boston this time of year is 66°).  Many of us went straight from wearing shorts and t-shirts, to wearing hunter boots and scarves.  According to the barista at Starbucks today, "It will be like this until Tuesday."  According to me, it will gradually get better!  After another rather chilly day tomorrow, we start the uptick to more seasonable temps and sunshine.

We’re out of the woods with coastal flooding concerns now, but the winds are still whipping out of the NE (making our chilly, low to mid 50s feel even chillier).  While the NWS has expired the Coastal Flood Advisory, a Windy Advisory will remain in effect for the Cape and Islands through 11pm tonight for gusts generally between 30-40mph.  I must once again say this though – the coastal flooding concerns we had here in New England and the winds packing a punch have nothing to do with Hurricane Joaquin…

Speaking of Hurricane Joaquin – he’s still a powerhouse storm just north of the Bahamas (where it seemed to just be parked for the last couple of days).  Joaquin is still a Category 4 hurricane, with max winds of 155mph!!  The storm has started to finally MOVE though – tracking NE at 18mph.  The forecast track from the NHC keeps getting farther and father away from the coastline – and the current NE movement gives more confidence in that forecast.  We will NOT feel the effects of Joaquin here in New England.

Back closer to home… Clouds will be hanging around for the next couple of days.  Overnight lows will be in the low to mid 40s, with highs tomorrow in the mid to upper 50s.  Feel like a walk tomorrow?  We hope to see you at the Making Strides Walk!  We’re supposed to tell you that the walk will happen "rain or shine," but that statement doesn’t really make sense in this case.  It will be DRY, but without the "shine."  So, instead of "rain or shine," let’s try this:  It will be cloudy, dry and cool but the walkers will be walkin’ whatever the weather!  Bring that pink sweater/jacket with you!  Check-in opens at 8am.  http://main.acsevents.org/site/TR?sid=16393&type=fr_informational&pg=informational&fr_id=70168.

I have my sights set on the middle of this week, with more seasonable temps and even hitting 70° in some spots!  Great for apple-picking, leaf-peeping, crock-pot-cooking, sweater-wearing, boot-shining, cider-drinking, fall-time fun.  Enoy!  -Breezy
