EVERETT, MASS. (WHDH) - Last week, the FDA sent a letter to Whole Foods, saying it found numerous violations at the Everett facility during an inspection in February.
The facility makes ready-to-eat food that is distributed to more than 70 Whole Foods stores in the Northeast.
The FDA visited the facility five times back in February, and found a number of “serious violations.”
These violations include a note that several areas had condensation dripping from their pipes and into the prepared food.
Inspectors gathered 100 swabs from the inside of the facility, and say they found bacteria that indicates a potentially deadly form of listeria could be present.
Whole Foods issued a statement Tuesday saying they’re surprised the FDA is putting this out now because they say they’ve already worked with FDA inspectors, and have resolved all of the issues at that facility.
Officials released a statement Tuesday evening saying the problems at the company’s kitchen have been resolved, but the steps that were taken were not addressed in the FDA’s follow-up letter.
