The community of Taunton came together Friday night during a vigil honoring the victims of Tuesday’s stabbing rampage.

“Its’ all I see when I close my eyes,” Rosemary Heath, the wife of one of the victims, said. “I don’t want to see that.”

Heath’s husband George was murdered at Bertucci’s while trying to save Sheenah Savoy, a pregnant waitress.

“I want to see my happy, healthy husband again but I can’t so don’t focus on that,” Heath said. “I focus on what his legacy should be.”

His legacy included being an inspirational teacher at Greater New Bedford Regional Voc-Tech High School.

At the school, students created a heroic symbol for their beloved teacher as well as a statue, and then released balloons to help them grieve.

“I was completely overwhelmed with how much love they had for him,” Heath said.

At Friday night’s prayer vigil at Christ Community Church in Taunton, her tears were as plentiful as the hugs and love she received.

200 people from the community gathered to pray for all victims, and the suspect AJ DaRosa.

Heath said she may not forgive the 28-year-old who killed her husband and Pat Slavin, but said his family still needs prayers.

“To lose them the way it went down is sad, they do have my heart,” she said.

Heath focused not only on how her husband lived, but also how he died as a real life superhero.

“There was a reason,” she said. “She lived, the baby lived, and I’m so proud of it.”
