A Wilmington company is recalling packages of breakfast sandwiches manufactured for Starbucks.
Progressive Gourmet Inc. is recalling six-ounce packages of sausage, egg, and cheese on English muffin breakfast sandwiches out of an abundance of caution because they have the potential to be contaminated with listeria.
Listeria can caused serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, according to the Food and Drug Administration.
The product comes in a clear plastic labeled package marked with Best Before: 07-AUG-2016 on the top.
No other production runs of this product are impacted by the recall.
The potentially impacted sandwiches were possibly sold to consumers by 250 in Arkansas, Texas and Oklahoma on March 3 and 4.
No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with the product.
Progressive Gourmet is now working with the FDA and the Massachusetts Department of Health.
Consumers who purchased the product are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
