WILMINGTON, Mass. (WHDH) — A Wilmington-based limousine company was ordered by the U.S. Department of Transportation to immediately shut down.
The investigation by the U.S. Department of Transportation found Lynette’s Limousine Service posed an imminent hazard. It also said the company failed to inspect, repair and properly maintain its vehicles. The feds said the company also failed to ensure all of its drivers complete proper requirements, including drug and alcohol testing.
Customers who have used the service are also unhappy with the company.
“$800 in advance cash. They haven’t returned my calls, they haven’t done anything. I just heard from the news so I’m trying to get it figured out, squared away or I’m taking my business elsewhere,” said Fabritzio Candiani, who rented a limo van from the company.
The company issued a statement on Facebook regarding the investigation that read, “We are presently reviewing the government’s recommendations and findings regarding our business. We are one of the largest and safest carriers in the business. We are still in business and not going anywhere.”
Lynette’s Limousine Service operates a fleet of 20 vehicles, including limousines, specialty vans and a motor coach.
The owner of the company said she's hoping to have the vehicles back on the road with Federal approval within three weeks. Before then, if anyone has a reservation, she said she will offer a refund or an attempt to get some replacement service.
