A Wilmington woman is thanking the police department and sharing her success story after she saved her son’s life.

Roberta Biscan recently attended a free CPR class held by the police department.

She said she never thought she would have to use the skills she learned and perform the Heimlich maneuver on her son.

Her training kicked in when her 9-year-old son ran up to her, grabbing his neck and choking.

"It was very difficult," she said. "It’s on my son, but I knew that I had to and I was able to and I really contribute that to the training I received from the Wilmington Police Department," Biscan said.

Biscan said she did not panic because she could hear the officers voices in her head, telling her to stay calm.
