The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Tuesday afternoon into Wednesday.
The affected areas include Central and Western Massachusetts and is expected to include snow, sleet, and freezing rain.
According to the NWS, snow will accumulate in amounts of a coating to two inches before an extended period of freezing rain.
A second storm is expected to roll in Wednesday afternoon into Thursday morning.
Rain is supposed to pick up intensity late Wednesday, and localized downpours are likely into Thursday morning as the winds turn south and strong gusts kick in.
Rain should taper off by mid-morning Thursday.
The advisory may continue to expand in the coming hours to parts of Connecticut and Rhode Island as well as areas of Eastern Massachusetts.
