Teacher’s pet might not sound like a good thing, but at a Wisconsin middle school one teacher’s actual pet helps students through tough times and big changes.

A few days a week Alyssa Zimmerman’s dog Bell comes into school.

Zimmerman trained her as a therapy dog, and besides improving student’s grades, Bell rings in a little happiness.

"You can always get a hug from a teacher or always get a hug from a friend or a high five or a pat on the back, but there’s something about the attention and the love that comes from a dog, a therapy dog that is just pretty special," Zimmerman said.

Other teachers at the school say they love their newest faculty member’s calming presence.
