WOBURN, MASS. (WHDH) - WOBURN, MA (WHDH) – A Woburn family wants an apology from their son’s school after their child fell asleep on the school bus and was not dropped off at school on time.
On the second day of classes, John Berg said he got a voicemail from Altavesta Elementary School in the afternoon, telling him there was a “situation on the bus” that morning but that everything was fine. Berg said he was concerned because his 8-year-old son, Lucas, has special needs.
Berg said he was unable to reach anyone at the school so when Lucas came home, he asked his son what happened.
“He fell asleep on the bus and ended up at the bus monitor’s house, waking up, telling the bus driver he’s still on the bus,” said Berg. Lucas said he did not know where he was when he woke up.
Once he was discovered, Lucas was taken right back to the school. He was never left alone.
A driver and a bus monitor were both on board at the time. Berg said he is upset the school waited hours to call him and let him know about the situation.
“I’m still trying to find trust. I haven’t had much answers from the school,” said Berg.
