A woman was killed in a house fire in Natick on Saturday morning.
The fire occurred at a single-family home on East Central Street.
The woman, 73-year-old Carol McCarthy, is believed to be the only resident of the home.
An off-duty Natick firefighter discovered the fire around 8 a.m. while he was on his way to work.
McCarthy was found unresponsive and was taken out of the building through the second floor window.
She was taken to Leonard Morse Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
According to officials, there was evidence that the smoke alarms in the home were not working. Firefighters believe the flames began in the victim’s bedroom.
