PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — An employee at an electronics manufacturer in Providence has been sentenced to federal prison for embezzling more than $500,000 from the business.

Rhode Island U.S. Attorney Aaron Weisman said Friday that 43-year-old Jill Martinho, of Swansea, Massachusetts, was sentenced to nearly three years in prison and ordered to the stolen money back. She was also ordered to pay the IRS more than $185,000 in back taxes.

Martinho managed the finances at Walco Electric Company. She worked there for about 13 years, beginning in 2005.

She pleaded guilty in April to wire fraud and willfully making a false tax return.

Weisman says Martinho, who was authorized to purchase company supplies on personal credit cards, perpetrated the fraud by obtaining reimbursement twice for some purchases and obtaining reimbursement for completely fictitious expenses.
