DARTMOUTH, MASS. (WHDH) - A woman hit a Dartmouth police officer Wednesday night while driving under the influence of drugs, according to officials.

A policeman said he spotted Alanna Baylies slumped over the steering wheel while she was under the influence of drugs at Jones Park in Dartmouth.

Baylies then allegedly backed into the officer, knocking him to the ground and driving away.

She led police to New Bedford before crashing her car on Union Street near Route 18.

Baylies was taken to a hospital for minor injuries. She was charged with operating under the influence and assault and battery on a police officer.

The officer is reportedly doing okay this morning after being hit in the upper body.
