PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — A Rhode Island man was sentenced to serve nine years in prison this week for sexually molesting a 13-year-old girl, prosecutors said Friday.
George Dugas, 56, of Woonsocket, was sentenced Tuesday to 25 years with nine years to serve and the balance suspended with probation. He was also ordered by a judge to complete mandatory sex offender registration and counseling, and to have no contact with the victim.
Dugas pleaded guilty in the middle of his trial in October to first-degree child molestation.
Dugas molested the girl in a Woonsocket apartment between Feb. 4, 2013, and Feb. 3, 2014, Attorney General Peter Neronha said in a release.
