WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) — Police say they're investigating the deaths of a man and a woman whose bodies they found in a Worcester home as a case of apparent murder-suicide.

Around 11:35 p.m. Friday, officers discovered both dead of apparent gunshot wounds in a Lamar Avenue home after a woman asked police to check on her friend's welfare.

Police didn't identify the victims, saying next-of-kin notifications weren't finished.

But they said the woman, who was 47, and the man, who was 42, had been dating for a while.

Police didn't say what evidence they seized.

But they said officers found a side door unlocked, the home's lights on, and two vehicles in the driveway when they arrived and met the concerned friend.

Police went inside after their knock at the door went unanswered.
