A worker was rescued Tuesday from under an 80,000-pound sewage vacuum truck in Roslindale.

Boston firefighters say the worker was changing the tire on the truck when something shifted and the jack gave way. A witness said a tire on another part of the truck stopped the truck from falling completely onto the victim.

The truck is used to clean out sewer grates.

The worker, who is employed by a tire company, was taken to a hospital, according to the Boston Fire Department. He is expected to be OK.

The worker had been trying to replace the left rear tire when the incident happened.

Federal workplace investigators are attempting to determine the cause of the incident.
