New details have emerged about a trench collapse in Halifax on Tuesday.

According to fire officials, the town’s building inspector never issued permits for the work that was being done.

On Tuesday, a man got stuck in a trench and became trapped up to his chest.

The men were working on a septic system when the eight-foot trench collapsed.

It took almost two hours to get the man out.

He was conscious the whole time, and he was released from the hospital Thursday.
