BROCKTON, MASS. (WHDH) - A would-be robber is being sought after surveillance cameras caught him failing to break into a Brockton store.

The man was seen getting out of a minivan in front of Debi’s Convenience Store on Pleasant Street at around 5 a.m. Sunday. Armed with a large rock, he threw it at the glass door, only to have it bounce off. He then tried again and the rock bounced off the glass again and rolled under his van. He then gave up and drove off.

“It’s got to be the stupidest thief I’ve ever seen,” said store owner Steven Davis.

Davis put the video on Facebook, where it has been shared hundreds of times. He said the surveillance video caught the van’s license plate number and showed rear damage to the van, so he is hoping the suspect is found soon.
