Wynn Resorts gave a sneak peek on Monday of the resort casino set to open in Everett.
Casino giant Steve Wynn detailed updated plan for Wynn Boston Harbor, the new name for the resort.
Wynn said construction on the $2 billion project will start in July and it will open by early 2019.
The casino has not come without opposition, mainly from the mayor of Somerville, who is challenging Wynn’s environmental permit.
Both the mayor and Steve Wynn addressed the battle on Tuesday.
"We want to see economic development move forward," mayor Joe Curtatone said. "If you drive around Somerville you see we support economic development, job creation, but done right."
"Clearly he’s not a pro-gaming person, but as a mayor that wouldn’t account for this, because the legislation spoke, and then so did the people of Massachusetts," Steve Wynn said.
Wynn calls the environmental appeal "an irritation," but not a significant roadblock.
