A yacht caught on fire with boaters on board, when a nearby boater leapt into action rescuing all four people before calling the coast guard.
The yacht’s owner said the fire started in the engine and the boat ended up going under in less than an hour.
College student Michael Markez was captaining a charter boat nearby. He immediately cut off his fishing lines and raced over to the burning vessel.
Four people were on board the burning boat, including a young child.
The six-year-old child, in a life-jacket, was picked up first. The mother was rescued next.
A second charter captain, Michael Lasoya, sped to the burning boat and rescued the father.
The captain, rescued by a third boat, had a few bumps and bruises.
When the coast guard arrived everyone was safe.
The cause of the fire is still unknown.
