"I am inspired by my dear friend Retired U.S. Army staff sergeant Jerry Mahoney. While serving in Northern Iraq on 12/22/04 he saw an Iraqi soldier take a bullet to the abdomen. Mahoney asked another soldier to cover for him and he grabbed his medical bag and ran to the wounded soldier while under heavy insurgent fire. He bandaged the Iraqi solder and dragged him to safety. The Iraqi soldier survived his wounds. He received a Bronze star for his heroic actions.
In 2007 he and three other firefighters received the first ever Patriots Award at the 18th annual Firefighter of the Year awards. This award is given to a firefighter servicing in a war zone.
Jerry is an inspiration to many as a retired U.S. Army Staff Sergeant as well as active Firefighter/Paramedic.
Thank you for everything you do Jerry! We All Love you and are proud to call you our friend!"
