American Kerron Clement won the 400m hurdles gold medal on Thursday, clocking 47.73 seconds.
Clement, the 2008 Olympic silver medalist, is a model and an actor when he is not running. He appeared in the music video “Run the World (Girls)” alongside Beyoncé.
Kenya’s Boniface Tumuti finished .05 seconds later to earn the silver medal and break the national record.
Yasmani Copello, the bronze medalist, broke Turkey’s national record. Four of the seven runners who finished the race broke national records.
Puerto Rico’s Javier Culson, the 2012 Olympic bronze medalist, was disqualified after false starting.
The women’s 400m hurdles final will be held tonight at 9:15 p.m. ET. American Dalilah Muhammad ran the fastest time in the semifinal, clocking 53.89 seconds. Ashley Spencer will also represent the U.S. in the final.
