Ukraine-Brazil
Ukranian fencer Yana Shemyakina and Brazil’s Amanda Simeao were the first fighters to step on to the piste for their respective countries. Shemyakina gave the Ukraine a quick 5-2 lead.
Brazil’s Nathalie Moellhausen came out for the second period against Kseniya Pantelyeyeva. Moellhausen chipped away at the lead only allowing Pantelyeyeva to score twice.
Things began to turn around in the fourth period for the host country when Simeao returned to take on Pantelyeyeva. Simeao scored four points to get within a point of the Ukraine.
Pantelyeyeva created an eight point advantage in the seventh and the Ukraine never looked back winning the bout 45-32.
