Team USA’s Margaux Isaksen appeared to injure herself in Round 7 against Xiaonan Zhang of China. She was seen getting her ankle taped afterwards in between rounds. Isaksen has been battling injuries during the 2015-2016 season and hopes to rebound in Rio.
Isaksen ended with 208 points after winning just over half of her bouts to finish 14th overall.
In her Olympic debut, Isabella Isaksen had a strong showing in the competition and finished 8th overall with 220 points.
Defending gold medalist Laura Asadaukaite had a bit of a disappointing performance as she finished in 11th place. She finished third in the fencing event in London.
Poland’s Oktawia Nowacka took the top of the leaderboard with 262 points as she went 27-8. Nowacka is the 40th ranked pentathlete in the world and did not qualify for the World Championships in May.
Following her is German Lena Schoneborn with 244 points and Melaine McCann of Canada with 238. Schoneborn won Worlds in 2015 and came in third this year. McCann is ranked thirtieth in the world and came in 31st at Worlds.
