U.S. swim team co-captains Nathan Adrian, Anthony Ervin move into 50m freestyle semifinals

Nathan Adrian, fresh off his bronze medal-winning 100m freestyle Wednesday night, advanced from the qualifying heats of the 50m freestyle into the semifinals on Thursday afternoon alongside fellow U.S. swim team co-captain Anthony Ervin. Adrian and Ervin raced the same heat and finished first and second, separated by 0.02 of a second.  

Defending 2012 Olympic champion Florent Manaudou of France also advanced in fourth place, with a  time of 21.72 seconds.

Australian Cam McEvoy, Canada’s Santo Condorelli and Vladimir Morozov of Russia also advanced to the final.
