WILTON, Conn. (WHDH) — Police officers in Connecticut jumped into action to rescue a man after a fiery car crash in Wilton.

Police said the SUV went off the road and crashed into several trees, pinning the driver inside. The SUV then caught fire.

“The driver’s door was closed and crumpled in from hitting the tree,” said Wilton Police Sgt. Gregg Phillipson. “The same with the front passenger, was also crumpled in from hitting a tree on that side.

Police officers moved in with fire extinguishers and opened the SUV’s tailgate, grabbing the man and pulling him to safety.
