Big Papi made a grand entrance for Red Sox spring training in Ft. Myers, Fla. Tuesday.

David Ortiz reported for duty at JetBlue Park. The 39-year-old was pumped for his 13th season in Boston.

“Back in the building,” he said.

“We los tres amigos,” he said. The three amigos: Ortiz, Pablo Sandoval, and Hanley Ramirez.

Sandoval says having a chance to play with Ortiz was a huge factor that attracted him to Boston.

“I decided to be part of the three amigos. You know, it’s good to know better, be in a situation and be who you are so it’s one of the things they have done in the past so we want to learn a lot of things from him,” Sandoval said.

He’ll be learning from Papi for a long time.

Ben Cherington says there hasn’t been a discussion about Ortiz’s contract but emphasized, “I think David knows he’s going to be a Red Sox for as long as he wants to be a Red Sox,” he said.
