BOSTON (WHDH)– The Bruins are one loss away from elimination, but that's the least of their worries right now.
Patrice Bergeron headed to the hospital for evaluation on an "undisclosed injury.”
He flew back to Boston with the team and while Claude Julien didn't elaborate much on his condition, he handled the topic with humor.
"How was he, spirits-wise, coming home on the flight,” one reporter asked.
“Was it you that asked Marshy that question? Because he said he looks dashing today in his suit. Guys, he's day-to-day, and 'day-to-day' is really good news to me, anyways," Coach Julien said.
If Bergeron can't go, the B's know they'll have some pretty big skates to fill.
"It's a very big void, he's been one of our best players all playoffs, and he's had a great series, and it would definitely be a big loss," Brad Marchand said.
The Blackhawks in a similar situation with their captain, Jonathan Toews who sat out the third period of game 5.
"Johnny is doing much better today. He's progressed, and we're optimistic that he'll be playing tomorrow night," said Joel Quenneville, Blackhawks head coach.
As for the Bruins, they're a loss away from elimination, and the message is clear.
"I don't need to go in there and give this big speech, and get these guys riled up, because they know what's at stake, and we've proven it in the past, and now we have the opportunity to prove it again tomorrow," Julien said.
"Everybody knows our backs are against the wall in the room, and that's what we do for each other, we compete, and we wanna play and win for each other," Nathan Horton said.
