Former Red Sox pitcher and former ESPN analyst Curt Schilling took to his blog to throw his support behind Donald Trump for president.

Schilling, who is seldom shy about his conservative political views, wrote nearly 1,500 words on the subject, saying that despite him not agreeing with the GOP’s presumptive nominee for president, he trusts Trump and his love of the country.

“I trust him,” Schilling writes. “I don’t agree with him on many things, that’s cool. I also know that there is and never will be a candidate anywhere that I will agree with on everything.”

In the post, Schilling comments on the the “frauds in the liberal media” as well as Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders, but also acknowledged some of Trump’s perceived shortcomings.

“I do want Mr. Trump to stop the name calling,” Schilling writes. “I do want him to start being much more specific.

“I’m with ya on the Trump issue around his commentary about women,” Schilling adds. “I think it’s uncomfortable for me so I would imagine it is for women, but again I tell you, look at his daughter and decide if he actually knows how to treat women.”

Schilling recently made headlines for sharing an Internet meme on his Facebook page that called into question a controversial transgender bathroom bill.

The image shows a transgender woman with the caption, “Let him into the restroom with your daughter or else you’re a narrow-minded, judgmental, unloving racist bigot who needs to die!” Schilling also made his own comment on the post, saying, “A man is a man no matter what they call themselves.”

After ESPN had reportedly asked him to stop sharing the controversial posts on social media, ESPN fired Schilling.

ESPN said in a statement, “ESPN is an inclusive company. Curt Schilling has been advised that his conduct was unacceptable and his employment with ESPN has been terminated.”
